Cameras

Cameras were an important part of my childhood. I loved cameras as physical objects. I often thought of family members’ cameras as a representation of their identity. I also loved how photos could be used as a medium for storytelling.

Early digital cameras got me excited about capturing as much as my life as I could. It lead me to explore photo manipulation tools like Photoshop. The power of manipulating a photo got excited me about using photography as a medium for art expression. My experiments with photography led me to acquire an MFA in Photography from University of Illinois at Chicago.

These days I practice digital and film photography recreationally. I shoot ‘straight out of the camera’ snapshots and occasionally create digital collage. Recently I have found myself exploring RAW photography and post production again.

This week, I combined my photography website with my design website. I've spent many years trying to define myself as a designer, but I haven't expressed how much I consider myself to be a photographer as well. I feel like it's time to merge my interests into a single story.

Some cameras I am currently using: Fujifilm X-E5, Leica M11-D, Minox 35 GT, Fujifilm X100V, and Contax T2. Learn more about my full camera collection.
